Week 1-
It was a quick adjustment to get settled into House of Hope and feel apart of the family.Week one in Chile was settling into my schedule and figuring out my role in helping outat the schools, hogare, and the house of hope ministry. It has been great getting to knowthe kids and see their eagerness to learn, their questions are endless. Some of the kids atthe school also come to Hope Community on Wednesday nights and they also come on Saturday. Many of these kids come from tough backgrounds and this is a chance for them to just be a kid and have fun while also learning about who Jesus Christ is. One of my highlights so far is worshipping in the churches here in Spanish and building relationships even though there is a language barrier, it is a true testament that love does not have barriers.
Week 2-Time is going by very quickly here and many days I go to bed with tired eyes but a full heart. The amount of hugs and smiles every day fills me with so much joy. Serving with House of Hope has been such a blessing. From doing endless amount of dishes to cleaning the house of spider webs is teaching me that literally anything we do can be done for the Glory of God. This last week I gave my testimony at Hope Community and we talked about what it means to be a new creation in Christ. On Saturday many kids showed up and we took them to a nearby park to play futbol and just run around and have fun. Teaching in the English class has been a challenging but growing experience. It is tough to teach English when I do not know much Spanish, but the girls at the home have been a big help in teaching me Spanish. Saturday night House of Hope went around the community and asked people what changes they feel need to be made in the community of La Pintana. These are some highlights of the last two weeks here at House of Hope. “My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ.” Colossians 2:2
