Crown College Team Chile Update #1:

Hello friends and family,

First of all we would like to thank you all for your many prayers and support throughout our preparation, journey, and now ministry. After a very long period of traveling and desperately running through airports because we thought we were going to miss our plane, we arrived in Santiago Monday around nine in the morning. It was the first international flight for many on our team and I think as a whole we can say it was pretty rough. Tom, the Casa Esperanza (House of Hope) director and a young woman in residence, Nicole welcomed us with open arms at the airport and not much longer we arrived in the neighborhood of La Pintana. We met most of the amazing young women right away and even though each of us only know little of the others language, we make communication work quite well and we look forward to forming friendships with them in the days to pass. Also on our first day we took tours around the neighborhood and grounds to become familiar with the people and environment.

This is our first official Team Update:

Hello from the House of Hope. The team has all arrived and we are fully engaged in ministry and the construction of the multi-purpose building. Since this past Thursday we have been involved in a Vision for Children-Chile Board Meeting, a Volunteer workday on Saturday, a No Talent, Talent Concert and a wonderful Sunday morning worship service at the La Pintana Alliance church.
We are a team of six plus our wonderful intern from Minnesota. The Volunteer work day was awesome. We had 17 volunteers. Many of them were first timers to the House of Hope. They helped us to construct and to assist us in our micro-business. Their enthusiasm and work ethic was contagious. Please go to our facebook for great pictures of the work day and our no talent, talent show.

The only comment I will make about our talent show is a quote from one of our team members. “ I didn’t realize that I was going to fly 6000 miles to Chile to hear an Australian sing music from the Beatles “ And we did and we had fun. Thank you Grant and family and all of those that contributed. What a great night.

We are here to March 16th. We will do our best to keep you updated. Thank you for your prayers and support in making this trip possible God bless !
Tom

Team Two / First Update

Hello Family and Friends, Team One has left the house and it is now up to Team Two to complete the work. Pray for us as we are a Team of 3.5 people. However God knows what we need to get the work done and has sent us 29 students plus two great teachers from Nido, a private school way on the other side of Santiago. This is their week without walls. We have them for 5 days and we plan to get as much work out of them as possible They are volunteers and we have already had them for three days. They are a great bunch of kids from freshman to seniors and from all over the world. They are helping us to install insulation and dig a trench for our water line. It is amazing to watch them work and eat. Thank you Nido !

On Sunday [ the day before our week without walls kids showed up ] we had the opportunity to visit one of our Spanish speaking churches, the Penalolen Church. It was a great service. The church allowed us time for Daniel and I to update them on our ministries and sell some of our micro business items. We felt so welcomed and appreciated. Thank you Pastor Elias for allowing us to come.

After the church service we headed to one of our favorite shopping places, Los Dominico’s for some shopping and good eating. After a brief unexpected rain fall and it getting colder we headed home for a time of relaxation and fellowship.

Please continue to pray for the Team and the girls as they continue with their studies. God bless !MK429641
